Saturday 21st October – Friday 3rd November, 2023 Opening Hours Saturday 10am -5pm Sunday 11am-4pm Weekdays 9:30-6pm Daniel Katz Gallery 6 Hill Street London W1J 5NF Danny Katz first began dealing in art in 1968 and is regarded as one of the foremost dealers in and connoisseurs of European sculpture. Known for his discerning eye, Danny’s inexhaustible appetite for new knowledge and discovery means today he is just as well-known for the breadth of his expertise as its depth, collecting across many fields, including the fields of Ancient Art, Old Masters, 19th Century Paintings and also Modern British Art. For the first time, his collection of museum quality Islamic ceramics will now be the focus of an exhibition at the gallery to celebrate the beauty of Islamic artforms. Amassed with great love and care, and usually privately displayed in his home, this is the first time they will be shown in public. Selected for their beauty, rarity and historical importance Danny’s collection is reflective of the richness, splendour, and complexity of Islamic ceramics. Beyond his fascination with the culture itself, his unique discerning eye for design, craftsmanship, form and colour has played a pivotal role in uniting pieces that span six hundred years from the 10th to the 16th centuries. The collection includes superb examples from the early Fatimid period, through exceptional plates, bowls, bottles and jars from the Kashan and Iznik cultures.
